DIG Traffic inspects traffic snarls on NH-44 amid construction | KNO

Jammu, Dec 03 (KNO): In view of large volume of traffic flow on NH-44 particularly between Nachalana and Hingni where the smooth flow of two-way movement is getting increasingly disturbed due to ongoing road construction activities, DIG Traffic Range Jammu, Dr Mohd Haseeb Mughal, IPS conducted an on-spot visit to the site. The visit was aimed at understanding the prevailing traffic situation and assessing the challenges on ground. He was accompanied by Shri Raja Adil Hamid JKPS, SSP Traffic NHW Ramban, Shri Shuvam Yadev, Project Director NHAI, Shri Surinder Pal Singh, Dy.SP Traffic Banihal, Shri Sajjad Ahmed, Dy.SP Traffic Ramban, DTI Banihal and others. In a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the department said that the DIG Traffic on spot said that reports were received that new flyover is being constructed along Nachalana Nallah which is going to be connected with National Highway between Nachalana and Hingni due to which a massive construction work shall be taking place and the same is likely to hamper the hassle-free movement of traffic. “Accordingly, a spot visit was planned to find out the way-out, he added. DIG Traffic further said that during the spot meeting detailed discussions were held with the Project Director NHAI who has agreed to put in place all required men and machinery while undertaking fly-over connectivity work with the main road and agreed that double way traffic shall not be hampered,” it reads. The statement further said that “Accordingly necessary directions were also given to the traffic Police officers for exercising utmost care and responsibility to ensure that two-way traffic is not hampered and also install signages, particularly of ‘No Overtaking’ at vulnerable points along the NH-44 to enhance commuter safety and prevent accidents.” DIG Traffic also inspected other congestion points of the Nation Highway and necessary directions wherever required have been given to the traffic Police officers for making proper deployment of traffic police personnel and machinery at the traffic congestion sites on NH-44 for smooth and meaningful Traffic management—(KNO)
